"Text me when you land." It's what your mom says. Your partner. Your friend picking you up. Everyone expects it. Landed makes it automatic.
When someone says "text me when you land," they're saying "I care about you." The problem isn't the request — it's the circumstances: you're exhausted, your phone might be dead, the airport WiFi is slow, you're rushing to baggage claim, or you're sprinting to a connection.
It's a small thing that becomes complicated at the exact moment when everything else is complicated too.
Long flight, no outlet, entertainment drained the battery.
Airport WiFi is slow. Roaming isn't working. You're in a concrete basement.
Tight connection. Delayed flight. Running to the next gate.
You're tired. You're dealing with bags. Your mind is elsewhere.
The people waiting don't know which of these happened. They just know the text didn't arrive.
The person waiting refreshes FlightAware. They send a follow-up text. They call. Meanwhile, you're dealing with bags, completely unaware.
None of this needs to happen. The flight landed. You're fine. The text just didn't go out.
The insight: The text doesn't need to come from your phone. It just needs to arrive.
Landed tracks your flight from our servers. When you land, we send a text to your contacts. Your phone doesn't need to be on, connected, or even charged.
Your contacts receive a message when you land. It's simple and clear:
Sarah has landed at LAX.
That's it. The information they wanted, delivered the moment you touch down.
What if I want to text them myself?
Go ahead. Landed just ensures the notification happens regardless. If you text them too, no harm — they'll just hear from you twice.
Can my contacts tell it's automated?
The message says your name and destination. It doesn't say "sent via Landed" or anything technical. It's a straightforward text.
What if I'm on a connecting flight?
Landed supports multi-leg trips. Your contacts can get updates for each leg, so they know you made your connection.
Do my contacts need to install anything?
No. They receive standard SMS text messages. Any phone that can receive texts works.
